About PESL
The Power & Energy Systems Laboratory (PESL) is a collaborative research community within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
PESL brings together faculty, students and collaborators with complementary expertise in power electronics, electric machines and drives, renewable energy, energy storage, electric power systems and advanced control. Through interdisciplinary research and experimental innovation, PESL works to advance efficient, reliable, resilient and sustainable energy technologies.
What We Do
What We Do
PESL research spans the electrical energy-conversion chain, from semiconductor devices and power converters to electric machines, energy storage and interconnected power systems.
Our faculty combine analytical modeling, simulation, optimization, advanced control and experimental validation to address challenges in emerging energy and electrification applications.
Research activities range from fundamental technology development to integrated system demonstrations, with applications in renewable energy, transportation, aerospace, robotics, industrial systems and future electric-grid infrastructure.
Mission
To advance power and energy technologies through innovative research, experimental discovery, education and collaboration.
Vision
To help shape the future of energy and electrification through efficient, intelligent, reliable and sustainable technologies from the device level to the system level.
